The BSA August 2yo Sale, scheduled for the TBA Sales Complex in Germiston on 26 and 27 August, will be held without the eighteen strong Maine Chance Farms draft.

One of South Africa’s longstanding quality nurseries, Maine Chance is a popular vendor and the loss of their quality draft will be a disappointment to many.

“The decision to withdraw our draft is a precautionary move in the best interests of our horses and that of our fellow participating vendors. In our pre-travel prep this week, we detected what appears to be a mild virus being incubated by a couple of the youngsters. Rather than take a risk, we have decided to pull the whole draft off the sale. It just wouldn’t be fair to the horses, and we’d rather take no chances. It’s a massive disappointment for the team who have put in a lot of hard work. But the decision is supported by Dr Andreas Jacobs, and our horses always take top priority,” Stud Manager Tim Bootsma told the Sporting Post.

He added that the draft would move to the unbroken 2yo’s section of the CTS Ready To Run to be held at Kenilworth on 29 October.
